These beautiful Ferment For Life fermenting pots are hand made in the Czech Republic where they have been used for generations to ferment and store sauerkraut and other vegetables. The stoneware from which they are made creates the ideal environment to achieving optimal fermenting results every time, however their trademark feature is the moat-like groove that the lid sits in.

Once this groove is filled with water, an air-tight seal is created ensuring that air cannot get inside, which could otherwise spoil the fermentation and cause mould. The CO2 gasses that are created during the fermentation process can easily escape by bubbling up from under the lid, therefore no pressure is created yet the inner environment remains sterile and safe.
